Hi,

Lately I'm having some troubles with foobar. maybe it was from the beggining and I've just noticed now....

When I masstag a large playlist in foobar (>100 items) some files aren't written. I use id3v2 as tag system.

- Files or directories aren't read-only.
- Database don't have 'block update tag' enable.

Let's put a real example. Yesterday I've tagged 150 files with custom '%favorite%=myname' tag. I use the Extended playlist generator with "QUERY=favorite HAS myname". Today it returned 33 items.

Because I was having some troubles lately when tagging files in the database between several users, I checked some files I was sure I've tagged as favorite with tagger. The tag wasn't there. Then I look at the database (because I was also experiencing that when tagging large playlists, some items were actually been tagged into the database instead of the file itself) and the tag wasn't there either.

The masstag didn't hang or crash. In fact yesterday when I first generate the playlist all 150 files were returned blink.gif No one have use the PC/foobar since yesterday, so no one removed the tags wink.gif

It's someone experiencing something like this when tagging large playlists in foobar?

- Tags are randomly tagged into the database instead of the file itself.
- Some files are randomly skipped and not being tagged at all (neither the datasbe or the file itself).

Thanks in advance.

Here's a guess:

Highlight one or more of the files you masstagged. Right click - Properties - Reload info from files. If it works then Save the Playlist, as this is the step you forgot previously.

I didn't mentioned that but I also tried to reload info from files. Didn't work. As I said I checked with tagger if the tag was there (outside foobar) and it wasn't. For some weird reason, it just seems to skip files when tagging large playlists. I've also noticed that when replaygain as multiple albums, some tags are written into the database instead of the files itself. If you don't save the playlist, then it's gone.

again, not the expert here (attempting payback from the excellent HA help received):
I have used Masstagger to tag 100s and a 3 times thousands (>5,000). Some simple tag schemes, some (to me) complicated schemes. Mostly with fb8.1.

So I'd say it's not a common fb issue (limited experience here). Reload fb8.2 or start looking at another app issue.

I'll try tomorrow to masstag a large playlist and I'll see if I can reproduce the behaviour. Thanks for the replies rolleyes.gif

I tried yesterday with masstagger. tagged around 300 items, no problems at all, after closing foobar, re-starting computer, the tags remained there (checked for both users account enabled). blink.gif

PS: Computers drives me crazy wink.gif
