Do you remember why you joined HA?

What was the first question you asked?

I think my first question was something to do with AAC. I started off by posting at audiocoding.com. They told me to ask at HA.org smile.gif

I joined HA because an user of my little tagger pointed me to a bug report for my program here on HA smile.gif

I've never heard of HA before and I'm still very thankful to this person, which opened a new world to me!

Best regards,

I joined HA because I'd heard about the --r3mix setting and I wondered what other optimized settings were. I first posted inquiring which was a better codec to go with, MPC or Ogg (this was about the time that the Waiting sample was discovered to clip MPC at --standard. I still can't hear it), so there was more talk about an MPC trouble sample than there was about Vorbis trouble samples.

Suffice to say, Dibrom himself set me straight.

I've nearly left HA though, since I've discovered that I'm perfectly satisified with the current state of audio.

I found my way here from doom9's forum. wink.gif

A little search proves that this is my fisrt post ever in HA. It appears that I registered seven days before I did my first post.

Yeah I do biggrin.gif
Move here after that too...

But I remember why I joined r3mix: some asshat told me I was wrong praising some random ripper and that EAC was better... He told me to STFU and go to r3mix to be set straight rolleyes.gif

Don't know if to thank him or to slap him for my addiction to this community.

I started lurking when I saw an interesting-looking thread get linked from somewhere else. I think I registered when I saw a topic about using modding Audigy drivers on the SoundBlaster Live! to say that the modded drivers did make a difference in my RightMark scores, but that I couldn't hear the differrence and that the stability issues were enough to make me go back. Since then, I've appreciated the relatively low frequency of similar topics regarding other magical, "enhancements."

I arrived here after JohnV spammed about HA on Audiocoding.com's forum.

And soon after I started spamming about RareWares (that didn't even have this name back then - it was just called "A collection of hard to find pieces of software") happy.gif

I'm not really sure, but I think I came here to get Win32 versions of vcut, the Vorbis cutter. I remember telling people, 'If you go to HA, there's this person called rjamorim. Look at his sig, follow the link, and voilą, a working version of vcut.'

I lurked quite a while without registering, though.

edit: I probably got to know HA from the Vorbis mailing list at xiph.org.

I came here looking for Jen's phone number, but my mission has remained fruitless.

But seriously... I came here because I was sat on the fence back in the days of --r3mix vs dm presets... plus CiTay, JohnMK, JanS, Rjamorim etc all made me laugh regularly in IRC. (Not forgetting Everwicked, Genjuro, MTRH and the rest of them)

According to my first post I headed in here from Radified because I was looking for the 'best software' for audio extraction, figured I might as well learn how to rip right the first time! Man did I feel insignificant and stupid when I arrived. At least now I know I'm insignificant & stupid but at least I know some names around here now :-)
Seems my first post had to do with decoding EAC profiles from Chris Myden site - a question which was never answered and only recently did I figure it out - told you I still know hardly anything.
I think on Radified site it said that HA was the bleeding edge of audio & I would have to agree with that statement - its hard to find a bunch of more knowledgable people without going down to the local coffe shop.
Hopefully when I get to 1000 posts I will probably be a bit more knowledgable.
ANother thanks to the HA staff for keeping the edge sharp :-)

i think a post on r3mix's board brought me over here. can't remember for sure, tho. i used to be a usenet junkie (a.b.s.m.d! biggrin.gif) but i doubt any of those nutters spammed this nifty board in the .d group, tho.

I first came to HA searching for the best method to transcode my Musepack files to MP3 for playback in my car.

I arrived here over the r3mix route too even though I wasn't aware of the censorship attempts. I was just looking for the best way of ripping MP3s and found it at HA.org.
At the very end of 2001 I idled around in #project_mayhem on OpenProjects a bit and talked to a strange fellow named MTRH.

Since then I've met a fuckload of amazing people through HA.org and the connected IRC channels.

I came to HA after finding out about it from the FLAC site. My first post never got an answer ohmy.gif (but it's a moot point now).
