I'm seeking to adjust the volume of a continuous DJ mix that is divided into single songs. Once the next song starts I don't want a jump in volume.
So basically I want to know if the 'album' gain will analyze all songs and adjust the loudest of them all to my target volume while keep volume proportion (?!) to the rest if that makes any sense. To further clarify I don't want *all* song's target volume to be set at say 89,1 but only the loudest and adjust the others by a factor so the overall volume distribution of the mix is untouched (if this at all possible).
Or is my thinking seriously flawed in any way ? My understanding of the replay gain concept is pretty limited as you can tell ...
Sorry, english is not my native language ...

you can think of albumgain as adjusting the whole album up or down.
the dynamics between the tracks will be the same.

That is just the answer i wanted to hear
This was my first post here and I was helped right away. This is a friendly place, I like it ! Thanks !
And
I like this place because I don't have to answer every single question about mp3gain myself
That's especially a useful thing when my company assigns me to an on-site project where I don't have web access all $%@#-ing day
Thanks, Jan, and everyone else who chimes in with answers about mp3gain for the newbies.

That link only has the EXE file and you need to install the VBRUN files separately. I have done that but stil get the error that XZY. file is missing or somesuch thing (I've deleted everything until I can find the full install)
I'm reeeeally sorry that the Full install version has been broken for several days now. As I've discovered with this most recent batch of problem reports, at least one of the Microsoft OCX files does not get installed with the default VB run-time downloads.
...DING!... I just realized I might be able to get around using that OCX file at all. It'll take a few code changes, but it will be soooooo worth it if I can. Smaller "Full install" download, fewer people with problems, etc.
I'd start working on it right this second if it wasn't already 2 am and my kid will be waking up in about 5 hours.
In the meantime, it shouldn't be too hard to find any "missing" files on the Net.
