Hi,
I'm planning on getting a DAP, probably a 40g ipod and I also have the Slim Devices Squeezebox, so I've been ripping my CD collection to flac and plan to use foobar2k with the foo_nero and foo_pod plugins to get it to the ipod.

I'm using a Pioneer DVR-106D (A06) to rip my CDs using secure mode, test and extract, in EAC. Track quality comes back 100% and CRCs match. I have another drive in my PC so I take a CD I ripped with drive 1 and decided to see if I get the same CRC with drive 2. Track quality again is 100%, but I get a different CRC. I have EAC ripping then encoding directly with flac; the files sizes are different by 6kB.

I'd expect with two different drives, both with a track quality of 100%, I should get the same CRC. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

TIA.
Regards-Michael G.

This could be an offset difference. Nothing to worry about imo
Try comparing the wave files in EAC / Compare waves. This should only result in a couple of different (zero) samples at the beginning of the file.

This doesn't explain the size difference. Check that the gap settings are the same. Then compare wavs, it will tell you why the files are different.

Two EAC options can effect that:
1. Fill up missing offset samples with silence
2. No use of null samples for CRC calculations
