Hello!

I am looking for some earphones for about 50 € and found the Sennheiser MX series to be quite good. However, the bass isn't so powerful and I was wondering if any of you knows earphones having a similar quality, but with more bass.

As for headphones, do you think that the Sennheiser PX100 are good? I wasn't able to test them anywhere - the stores I went to here in Karlsruhe (Germany) only have the PX200 or PX250 which are too small and don't fit perfectly.

Regards,
Sebastian Mares

One more thing... Is it true that headphones made for the USA are louder than ones made for Europe?

PX 100 are great, i have them myself. There are numerous threads already where they get mentioned, just search around a little.

I tested them and they sound pretty good, but I don't like the design. Also, they are very uncomfortable IMHO.

Anyways, any recommendations for earphones?

I've had a pair of PX100 for a few months now. Love them.
A great thing about them is that they look so 'cheap' that noone wants to steal them smile.gif
IMO it's almost the perfect pair for work/transport use. They are light, comfortable, don't look expensive and very very good sound for the cost.

The sound stage of these clip-ons was great! It's comfortable to wear and has detailed sounds. Also, it got the 2003 Japan Good Design Award.

I seriously doubt that the actual headphones made for the US are quieter than the ones made for Europe.

What is more likely is that the amplifiers in european portable devices are limited to a lower output then in american ones. Mainly due to health reasons and to prevent hearing damage afaik.

I had the Sennheisers 500MX, then I Ebayed for a pair of Sony E888s (from Hong Kong, Sony wont sell them in the west). The E888s are sooooooo much better. The Sennheisers were uncomfortable and had really weak bass. I would try switching back and forth when I first got them and it was a whole nother listening experience. I highly reccommend the E888s if you can find them, and they're under E50. I think I paid around US $50 with shipping.

I have a pair of Sennheiser HD 433. Very cheap and not very good.

In some discussions on Dutch forums I read that Sony MDR-EX71 earphones are among the best you can get in this price category.
