Does anyone know of sites that using vorbis for their downloadable music (like mp3.com).

I had a quick look over the forums and couldn't find anyone asking this same question.

Cheers,
papadoc
Good question, crowfax.
(hope you don't mind if I add another question here,
as opposed to starting another thread)

I'd also like to know of any stations that stream using ogg vorbis,
like BBC did.

thanks...

I'm assuming they're vorbis streams seen as they're on the ICEcast site. I can't try any of them tho as I'm stuck on a 56k modem.

Thanks.
But the one's I tried there seem to stream at a fixed bitrate.
I always noticed with BBC Radio1's ogg stream,
the bitrate changed as it streamed because of it being vbr.

I used Google to search for ogg music downloads.
Not to many results, and the one's I found,
are probably not what your'e looking for:

Nice.

I think a big OGG site like MP3.com could really help the format get big coverage.

I don't know of any such site, but I can recommend Machinae Supremacy which have all their stuff up in glorious high-quality oggs.

The style is rock/electric with a lot of c64-nostalgia.

Thank YOU eloj, for the link!

I have it bookmarked now, so must scoot to scoop up some oggies !! smile.gif

It's not much, but vorbis.com does have a few links.

If you are in to house and/or jazzy beats, I'd recommend Tokyodawn and Tokyo2051. Both are found at http://www.tokyodawn.org/

One of my favourite sites with ogg (and only ogg) downloads.

Cheers,

Emanuel

These guys seem to be nudging artists towards ogg:

I used to download from www.r3bound.com: great drum'n'bass ogg vorbis streams.

...but the site is down now. I searched in Google for r3bound and found some nice links.

Me like!

Very cool stuff, and Ogg Vorbis downloads! Double score.

When I design bands webpages I try to convince them to use Ogg, or atleast include Ogg and MP3. I usually tailor the Ogg so that in a SQ test, the Ogg will win hands down (<64Kbps MP3's vs Ogg -q 0 or -q 1). I sadly don't really have any available to post, but I should shortly.

My website Corridor of Cells:

has Ogg downloads too (metal, experimental, as well as even a trip-hop track)

I used to be a member of r3bound (using the pseudonym 'emit'), and indeed it had nothing to do with r3mix -- it was simply chosen because rebound.com, rebound.net, & rebound.org were all already taken. We shut down opperations a while back, but you can find the archive of OGG recordings at:
http://www.scene.org/dir.php?dir=/music/gr...s/rebound/2001/

As well, you can find all the older, module based music in the other sub-directories at
http://www.scene.org/dir.php?dir=/music/groups/rebound

The fellow who used to be the head of rebound now does a lot of work for the aforementioned tokyo dawn label (his moniker is Krii)

Ambient, space rock, and rock.

Xiph.org are revamping Copyleftmusic.org as a front end for people to host thier music. I'm doing a little subproject called "Aftercode - Chillout Music From The Demoscene" which will be a Ogg Stream (with skippable tracks).

The major problem for aftercode is I have to wait until copyleft is ready to roll. Music has to be cleared for use by fax or letter by law or else we're under copyright scrutiny.

Copyleftmusic.org will be a clearing house for all music I stream, but until then I'm sitting pretty.

Here's a URL to aftercode:
