I remember reading about artifacting in the --alt-presets up to even the insane encoding setting. My question's pretty simple (but I couldn't find it in the search): What artifacts have been found by really trained individuals up to --alt-preset insane, and are these artifacts only apparent on ABX or can they be heard without ABX as well?

I don't think I'm a really trained individual, but I remember that about a year ago I could ABX pre-echo on the Castanets sample (or was it the one with applause?), no matter what switches I was using. The same was with OggVorbis ...that's why I chose MPC to encode my CDs then.

Thanks Pio, my searches didn't come up with anything.
