Full Version: Low Recording Levels using SB Extigy

Hi all,

Perhaps you can help where Creative can't (won't).

I am recording vinyl to .wav using:

P3 500Mhz PC 256mb
Soundblaster Extigy USB (connected to Mainboard USB)
Sony Receiver as Preamp
Yamaha Turtable/Ortofon cartridge
Cooledit Pro 2

I am having two recurring recording issues (that are not present when I use the onboard soundcard (ie use the analog in on the motherboard):

1. Recording level is too low - even when I have eveything max'd in Windows Audio Mixer. Only manage to get to about - 8 db at best (and not very often at that)!

2. Recording occasionally drops out (silence) - I suspect this is buffering.

I was hoping to use the Extigy as it will result in a better quality recording, but how?

Does anyone know a way to sort out these issues (still waiting on an answer from Creative).

Thanks,
boojum
There is a volume cpmtrol on the external sound card. Have you checked that?
