I use an iRiver IFP model flash player when working out: it's small, sounds good, and you get the benefit of an FM radio for more music in case your workout goes overtime. A 64 or 128MB player won't set you back too much, either; check out eBay for some good deals.

If you like the Rio line, why not try a player from their S line? The S is for sports, after all... I believe they all have either 64 or 128mb, and some have an FM tuner as well. iRiver players, as well, are plenty good for anything, and are usually feature-packed.

NexIIe. Right now I have a 256MB flash card in it. I think it can go higher. Looks like it's out of production. Found this link:

It is very good on a treadmill. Nice and loud too.

One interesting thing about the iPod is that it's harddrive is not constantly on. It has 32 MB of DRAM so it loads as much of your playlist songs as possible into DRAM and plays them from there, leaving the HD off. They claim about 23 mins of skip protection so I suspect that, unless you go and switch to another song causing it start the HD to reload the song, you can perhaps do some light jogging with an iPod during that time since there are technically no moving parts and the HD does have a rubber shock absorber around it. But with such an expensive thing in your pocket, I guess it's best to be safe. smile.gif
