I think I have seen some LAME compiles that force only 1 type of encode. Im curious would it be possible to make a version of the LAME 3.90.3 compile such that no matter what you do it's 'fool proof' in encoding APS. So no matter what you do it will encode only in APS. Furthermore, if this could be included in a compile of lame-3.90.3modified.zip such that the backported "settings used lametag embed" feature will also be availble. I dont think any version on RareWares is like this right now using both: only 1 setting encodes + setting used lametag.

If this is possible let me know? unsure.gif

I think the LAME 3.90.3 dll modified to use INI FIle Setup is what you want.
The ReadMe insdie the Archive says:
QUOTE
Special lame_enc.dll that uses ini file to set Preset used.
===========================================================

This special dll uses the provided lame_enc.ini file to establish the preset
to be used in encoding and also the Scale to be used. The Scale option allows
use of a calculated ReplayGain figure to adjust the volume during encoding.
The ExperimentalY option allows that switch to be set.

The ini file should be amended, as required, using a simple text editor. See
the content of the ini file to understand how to use it.

If the ini file is not present, the dll will encode using 'preset standard'
as a default and without applying any scaling.

This dll will ONLY encode using one of the presets included as options and
specified in the ini file. All other encoding options regarding quality and
bitrate, etc., such as may be set within CDex, will be ignored.

I don't know if the LameTag feature is included though, although i would be suprised if it wouldn't.

cool.gif I was looking at that but I have a few more questions?

1) What programs use the dll? (Ive honestly never in all my years used it..I ALWAYS used the exe..with EAC or RazorLAME usually).

2) Is there an EXE forcing APS? That zip only had a dll.

3) once I figure out #1 I guess I will see if the lametag setting embed works biggrin.gif

EDIT: Ok i got cdex to use the dll for this. And it seems that #3 was answered to it does store settings into the tag.

So my only question left is #2 i.e. is there an EXE doing the excact same thing?

No there isn't a "special" .exe that works this way ATM. I did produce a 3.90.2 version that did precisely that, so it won't take much effort to produce a 3.90.3 version. I'll compile one either later today, or tomorrow. wink.gif

I've uploaded a MODified version of the 3.90.3 .exe that uses the same .ini file for parameter setting as does the MOD dll. I have done some limited testing, and it appears to be OK, but if you find any problems, please let me know. wink.gif
