OK, soon I shall begin the unenviable task of re-rencoding all my CDs losslessly using EAC. I want fast, secure rips.

My drive is a Plextor Plexwriter Premium. From what I've been reading, I should disable the cache, and set a read offset. Trouble is, I don't see where this can be done. I don't have an option to change the read offset.

As for the cache, the only thing I see is running in Paranoid mode, which EAC labels as 'not recommended'. Oh, and an option that says 'Drive caches audio data'. Is disabling it simply a matter of unchecking that?

Can you take a look at these 2 screen-grabs of my EAC settings page and let me know what is going on?

I seem to get 8-10X max on reads, which seems slow.

Thanks!

Please do a search for this information. I believe it has been covered many times in the past. Thanks. cool.gif

No, you should make sure it is checked.
By checking it you tell EAC that your drive is caching data and this will make EAC use a (slower) method that "disables" the cache. If your drive is caching data and you uncheck this option, EAC won't be able to detect errors properly.

Which version of the software EAC you're using?

under EAC options, you should disable the "beginner mode" ... the features you wrote about are only accessible in "advanced mode"

It is under the "offset / speed" part, that you can see on top of your window.

That was exactly the problem, thank you!

Also ancl thanks for the info on caching.
