Full Version: PX712A & PX712A/T3: any difference?

I'm about to take the plunge and get a DVD burner. I don't care about dual layer, and I *do* care about quality of audio format CD burns, so it looks like the Plextor 712A is the one to go for.

But I also see a 712A/T3 at around the same price. Is there any significant difference between these two models? (Plextor's website appears not to mention the T3).

I don't have any proof, but since the T3 thing isn't listed on their site, I'd bet it would be included accessories and/or software.

I just purchased that drive from Newegg along with the Plextor Premium CD-RW drive and should have them on Friday. Can't wait to start some serious ripping with those two!

If you check CD Freaks' Plextor sub-forum, you will see that a few ppl are having trouble burning DVDs at higher speeds with their PX-712As. OTOH, those who are not are very happy with their results. Seems like buying a PX-712A is a bit of a gamble.

I'd recommend waiting until next firmware revision release (v1.05) and see if it fixes the problems.
