I'm running Solaris 8 at work, and I'd like to install a spreadsheet program capable of performing simple macros of the type Excel can run. Also, it would be nice if the spreadsheet supported multiple sheets in a single workbook. Is there anything out there like that?

Dibrom
Maybe gnumeric?

On the features list it states:

  • 100% of the worksheet functions in MS Excel ™
  • 60 functions not found in MS Excel ™
  • All builtin Excel-like formats: number, currency, accounting, date, time, percentage, fraction, scientific, text, special

... in addition to a lot of other useful sounding stuff.

From one of the screenshots it looks like it supports multiple worksheets via tabs also.

Dunno, I don't use spreadsheets much, but I've gotten the impression that it's supposed to be pretty decent and fairly robust.

OpenOffice includes a nice spreadsheet program.

Thanks for the OpenOffice tip. I will use it to replace StarOffice and WorpPerfect. Open Source, yes! tongue.gif
