Actually, Music: Response followed by Under The Influence open the latest version of the dance mix I use at parties.  They make a great opening, especially for the few people who've never heard The Chemical Brothers before.  I get more than a few people asking "How'd they do that?"  (And of course, Block Rockin' Beats is in the mix too, along with Elektrobank, Lost In The K-Hole, Got Glint?, Orange Wedge, etc.)

That's gotta be one kick-ass dance mix.
Have you listened to Underworld?
If you like "Music: Response", you'll love "Rez" and some other songs by them.
I recommend getting "Everything, Everything" a live CD of them, which serves a good "greatest hits" purpose.

As for Natalie Imbruglia, I only know "Torn" (who doesn't?!). I kinda liked it, but, to be honest, I did dismiss her as some pre-fab pseudo-singer.
I'll check it out (a friend of mine had the CD on those days, maybe he still does).

Now listening to Jumbo - Restaurant - Nova.mp3

Flower ~ Liz Phair ~ Exile In Guyville (1993)

Her debut album, and many say her best album (and I agree). Flower is quite likely the dirtiest song I've ever heard. Makes the lyrics to the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Sir Psycho Sexy sound like a nursery rhyme.

311 - "Beyond the Gray Sky" - Evolver

"Evolver" is an appropriate name for the album, as 311 seem to aim for refinements and reasonable experimentation in their sound with each album (evolution rather than revolution). They rarely make a major change in their sound (their self-titled 1995 release is an exception). I like every song on this album, which occurs about as often as an ice age. Compression of the dynamic range is also tame for today's standards and the type of music 311 writes.

Edit: Tweaked/corrected the wording of the post.

Let Down ~ Radiohead ~ OK Computer (1997)

Great song. Melodic, lots of delicate stereo effects, very relaxing overall. When I'm in a certain mood, I've gotta hear Radiohead and nothing else!

EDIT:

Took a while to figure out these board commands can be used in foobar's copy command.

For a more refined look to what's playing now. tongue.gif

EDIT 2:

This is the syntax used:
CODE

'[list]'
'[*]'Foobar2000 is now playing: '[color=blue]'%title%'[/color]'
'[*]'From the album: '[color=blue]'%album%'[/color]'
'[*]'By: '[color=blue]'%artist%'[/color]'
'[/list]'

Copy and paste this into foobar's copy command. Modify as you see fit.

Note - previewing this post it seems that the board code tags add spaces between the quote marks and brackets. May have to remove spaces??

Carouselambra ~ Led Zeppelin ~ In Through The Out Door (1979)

A very "non-Zeppelin" Led Zeppelin song, from the last studio album before Bonzo died. It stands out from their other work mostly because John Paul Jones gives his Fender bass a rest and plays the synthesizer prominently for the duration of the piece. And apparently, I'm the only person in the world who likes this song, having heard for years people say that they never should have put it on an album because it digressed from their style too much.

That's fine...I'll like it by myself! smile.gif

Listening to Emerson, Lake & Palmer's self-titled debut album:

/me is listening to Emerson, Lake & Palmer - [Emerson, Lake & Palmer #05] Tank [MPC, 244kbps, 6:51] [foobar2000 v0.7.1]

Some of this is pretty insane, especially the lead-off track, and generally the (often very disharmonic) organ work... not sure whether I could stand listening to this album more often and with full attention. The good moments of it are *very* good, though. And the Moog synth on "Lucky Man" sounds awesome. wink.gif

(Actually, Rush used that to some extent on "Moving Pictures"... the sound is just fascinating. Nothing beats the synth carpets on Power Windows though. tongue.gif)

I'm a huge Police fan, too. I have their whole collection. If you like Message In A Bottle specifically, I highly recommend Reggatta de Blanc, the album that Message was initially released on. Variety of sounds, but a similar theme throughout.
