I'm just (more or less) enjoying some highly commercial mainstream pop.

Listening to Mariah Carey - Music Box, 1993 (Audio CD). Never listened to the album before, I'm "testing" it at the moment.
First impression: F*CKING LOUD.
My wife has this album. I listened to once or twice, not really my kind of stuff. But, she does have an incredible range in her voice. Which, in some off kilter way, makes me actually kind of 'enjoy' the album as well.
This is my usual diametrically opposed listening habit:

hehe.. thank goodness this album wasn't released here in canada with that opendisc crap, whatever it is
pretty good stuff, i must say, though i think the producer is starting to run out of ideas

would be nice to have it without all the distorted parts. music like this shouldn't be mastered so loud! is there no decency in this f*cking industry?? this is a classic case of how quality suffers when musicians insist on making things HOT

I suggest you take a look at In the Eye of The Storm - first track (Is that the title track? I donīt remember anymore). Itīs quite good. "Only because of you" (last track?) is great too.
