smok3-

Just visited your site. XP snapshot of 0.6 fb2k shows Prong featuring Ray Manzarek. What 'kind' of song is this? Rock, blues, etc.

I have a friend who is big fan of Ray. I'm a big fan of Prong. Wondering what the two sound like together.

i would say its sort of a 'hard rock' B) (album: strange days, date: 1995), also from one of the few soundtracks i play all the time for some reason...
p.s. nope, i didnt see the movie (yet)

You serious?

It's one great MF science fiction flick (although badly dated by their perception of "the future").

Go watch it, ASAP!!! mad.gif

Just finished Insight Meditation - 01 - Breath Meditation.cda, going on 03 - Meditation on Body Sensations.cda.

Incidentally ...
have been meditating on which codec to best convert these meditation pieces. Instructional voice have to sound like a real person is talking to you & not like a recorded script, the occasional reverberating mellow bell chimes have to sound like it is striked in your presence, over 90% of each pieces is complete & pure silence, & each pieces is about 15-30 mins long.

Can any gurus here enlighten me as to which codec is the most appropriate for those unique characteristics? Size is not much of an issue for me but considering the type of content, an extravagantly high fidelity with huge file-sizes is an unnecessary & sinful waste of bits & storage consciousness, & I'm contemplating either MP3 or Vorbis?

Since you weren't very specific about your exact needs, here are some simple guidelines:

If you want compatibility (lots of hardware/software support), go with MP3.
If you want quality, go with MPC.
If you want a middle road between those, go with AAC.
If you want free licensing/patent free technology and good performance at low bitrates, go with Vorbis.

Thanks. I was considering MP3 or Vorbis mainly coz of compatibility reasons. I never leave my house without my Pocket PC & it plays both MP3 & Vorbis, so both are viable formats & both are good enough to give me the sound quality expected for the type of content. So, Vorbis would seemed to be my best bet considering it could do that at smaller file-sizes, although I've really tons of free space on my storage cards (1GB CF & 512MB SD, & more not inserted).
