Full Version: EAC Image vs Plextools equivalent

Was just wondering what (if any) differences there are between the EAC created WAV (w/cue sheet) and the file created by Plextools with the Extract to single file option?

Also does EAC include gaps in the WAV? Plextools has an optional selection that can allow you to include the gaps in the resulting WAV image.

The reason I ask is that sometimes i'd like to create a compatible WAV image from Plextools that I can burn with EAC using a cue sheet.

Thanks!

Well, since i've had some recent experience with this, thought I would chime in. PlexTools "Extract to single file" and EAC's "Copy Image & Create Cue Sheet" options do not produce the same results, at least not all of the time.

I actually encountered this issue while I was trying to verify each rip (Rip via EAC -> Image, Verify via PlexTools). It seems that if the CD has a gap (hope i'm using the correct terminology) before the first track, then the results between PlexTools & EAC will be different... otherwise they are the same. I.E. if your cue sheet has something like this for the first track:

INDEX 00 00:00:00
INDEX 01 00:00:37

As per why this happens, I have no ideal... its also been said that versions of PlexTools 2.14+ have CD Copy issues... I suppose this could be related. I would play around with it some more, but i'm currently knee deep in ripping my entire collection...

As per EAC including gaps in the WAV, someone more knowledgeable should probably try to tackle that one.
