ok after some search ,
i found out that it is possible to ripp&encode my cd's to mp3,
with the standard preset extreme settings in LAme, (with plextools)
thanks to a moddificated Lame dll, by @John033 (www.rarewarez.tw)

But this what happened.
i used plectools 1.16
setting = recover best bytes. (least errors)
max error 100
retries= 99

(i do have a plextor drive 321210TS)

after the encoding with the mod dll,
i looked at the errror log.
all errors were recovered.
but when i played the mp3 song, i could hear a "pitch" sound just at the beginning of the song.
something like a shortcircuit sound..

when i ripped that song first to WAV, that sound artifact didn't occur.
after that i encoded that wav with razorlame, and also i didn't got that sound in the beginning.

ofcoours with razorlame i didn't used the mod dll, but used the origional lame.exe

so what could be wrong here?
is is possihle that this mod dll, can give a sound atifact at the beginning of an encoded MP3?

or could it be that direct encoding while ripping has some side effects?

This may sound strange, but why not use EAC and a recent LAME? Either 3.90.3 or 3.96.1. The 3.90.3 is the gold standard. The 3.96.1 is an upgraded version and very good but not as tested. cool.gif

i don't thinkit's the ripper, but the encoder.
or the proces just in between the two.

becaus plextools is for plextor owners better then EAC.
but with less features.

if i rip to wav first , i don't get any sound artifacts.
ONLY if i rip/encode at the same time.
and only for a certain song of my cd.

An alternative would be
ripping with plextools
encoding with razor lame.
but i have a problem with tagging the mp3's afterwards.

what i would have is the filename= artist - titlesong.mp3
and the tagging has all the info in it .

Why not test it with EAC and LAME 3.96.1?? Just a test. cool.gif
