Hello,

I sure would appreciate any knowledge about Mac OSX and a way I can convert an mp3 that was encoded with LAME at 384 kbps to an AIFF file. I have iTunes and I can't even play the file. 320 kbps with a Blade encoder works fine, but iTunes won't even recognize the 384 kbps LAME encoded file. I have tried an Audion player and it also won't recognize the file and downloaded a script for iTunes to encode with LAME too, but I'm still unable to use the file.

Please, someone tell me there is a player that will play high quality mp3's (320+ kbps) for use with a Mac OSX.

Thanks in advance,

Llyfre

If you want to decode the freeformat MP3, Mad would do.

One possibility would be to download LAME from RareWares, and use the --decode option to decompress the 384kbps MP3 to wav. Then, use Apple Lossless to encode/play the wav file in iTunes without having to transcode it to another lossy format.
