Full Version: ogg files in explorer

A long time ago I installed an explorer extension that let you view and edit the tags embedded in ogg files. The problem is, now that I'm encoding with a newer version of ogg, explorer crashes when I try looking at a new ogg file's properties.

I forget what the shell extension is called, and there doesn't appear to be an uninstaller for it on my hard drive. Can somebody help me uninstall or update this shell extension?

Thanks,

If the program was VorbisExt (http://members.ozemail.com.au/~spitsw/VorbisExt/) then you could try going to the site and downloading a newer version and installing over the top.
The software used to be called VCE (vorbis comment editor) but it was a bit different, so I'm guessing you have VorbisExt.

Try doing a search for VorbisEx.dll (one of the DLLs VorbisExt uses). If you have that in your system or system32 directories, you should be able to cure your problem with an install of a newer version over the top.
Otherwise, sorry, can't help.

Thanks for pointing me to that. Installing the new version solved the problem.

I would've never found that on my own!

Ohoh - I did a format and can't find the file anymore on the net.
Tried several sources but al 404-related...
I really liked the properties-extratab shell.

Does anyone knows where it has moved to ?
Grtz!

ps: Glad the forum's back online!

A quick alltheweb search come up with the following

http://download.at.kde.org/opsys/linux/sf/v/vorbisext/
kjoonlee
http://vorbisext.sourceforge.net/

That's the new official site for vorbisext. : )

Ooh, I didn't know that it had moved. Time to update my bookmark. smile.gif

Another thing that it adds, in case anyone didn't know: Explorer column handler. Go to a folder full of .ogg files, do a View -> Details, then View -> Choose Details...
