Does anyone know of any online or physical stores (preferably in the Unites States or Canada) that might have older Plextor cd-rw drive models for sale?

Here are 2 I'm looking for new, in the retail box. NOT used:

PlexWriter 8/4/32

PlexWriter 24/10/40A

Of all the people I've talked to about Plextor drives, the 24/10/40A one seems to be the most well received.....even beating out the Premium.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! wink.gif

Centrix Intl got the OEM HP-branded version. Found via PriceWatch.

Never_Again,

Were all older HP cd-rw drives really re-badged Plextor's?

I found a 2x HP cd-rw drive, the HP CD-Writer Plus 7500i.

No, of course not =).

My first burner was a 9500i (IIRC) and it was crap, certainly not a Plextor. My next one was a Plex 40/10/40a and I remember at how impressed I was with the improvement.

If the drive doesn't outperform the Premium (now what a surprise that would be! =),you only stand to lose the shipping both ways. The drive is OEM, not a retail box; but neither is it used.

I would not waste time on it though. Go for a Premium.

Actually, I have a Premium, but I'm not too happy with it. The Premium drive never produced a single coaster. However.....

I only use older 74 minute Mitsui & Taiyo Yuden cd-r media, over the 80. In all the testing I've done, 74 min. media would have a lot less (in upwards of 4,000) C1 errors than 80 minute media.

The 74 min. cd-r media I use has anywhere from 16x-24x MAX recording speed, so it just made more sense getting a slower drive.

I also thoguht to myself: "If it takes me in upwards of 1 month to make a mix-cd, why would I want it burned in two minutes? It makes it seem like all my hard work is gone in a flash *poof*"
