I'm a new guy here, so please be patient with me.
Which MP3 Tag Studio is the best?
I just want to be able to rename some files easily at this time.

Also, what is considered the proper naming convention for music files? That is, when I get a portable player, which is the best way to have to files named before i upload them to the player for ease of use.

Thanks.

Do my questions make sense?

an application called 'Tag & Rename' does exactly what you want; it's easy to work with.

"conventions" for music files.. I don't know about, I don't have a portable player.

I use my own 'convention':

[directory name filename]
[Artists - Album nameArtist - track number with leading zero - song title]

a pretty standard way of naming files, I think. When I have a lot of albums by the same artist, example, Bob Marley, I include the year of the album release in the directory, so the album directories will order chronologically.

Preferably, I would like to get rid of every mp3 tag, they take up more time & energy formatting them than they're worth. I would like a dvd player to play my mp3 cdrs in, which will scroll the filenames in the display. Or a portable cd player that can also read cdrs/cdrws that will scroll the filenames.

If the (hardware) player has enough info just from reading the filenames, why would I need the tags? It's not necessary to store all sorts of info _inside_ a music file; all that info can be stored in a simple txt file inside tha album directory. Along with a scan of the album cover.

Seems much easier. id3kill (www.headstrong.de) works *quite well*. yeah, I get a real rush from deleting every tag in 2 gigs of mp3s biggrin.gif

In my opinion Tag made by Case is perfect.
