I was wondering if its possible to burn Foobar2000 to a CD/DVD along with a preset playlist of music on that CD?

In short, i would like to insert the CD-R/DVD-R in a computer without FB2K, and it autoruns, without any need to install, with the music that is on the cd on the starting playlist.

Not fully possible. Foobar2000 remembers full path to music files in it's database and playlists, so the CD made this way will work only when CD drive has assigned the same drive letter as in your computer. If it's not a problem, you can do it like this:

Write the music to the CD in the first session of multi-session disc, then add files on the CD to foobar playlists and database (wth user profiles disabled), burn the foobar2000 direcory as the second (and final session) to the cd, together with autorun.inf (this file should reside in the root direcotry of CD) containing:

CODE
[autorun]
OPEN=foobar2000\foobar2000.exe
ICON=myicon.ICO

So foobar cant load files from default wildcard directories like batch programming can (e.g. %cddrive%)?

Are there foobar commandline parameters to load, perhaps a saved playlist from the cd?

The playlist on start isnt VITAL to me, but having foobar2000 load from the cd without first having to install on a foreign computer IS possible? Just burn the harddrive foobar directory?

IIRC if you save a playlist in the root of a folder where you have files, it doesn't save the full path. I'm not completely sure of this, but IIRC i did that to move folders from drive to drive without losing any info from read only files. (for example rar and zip packs)

Sure, it's possible. Just copy the directory.

I burned the cd and tried it on two other computers. The Windows XP Pro computer ran it fine, but the Win98SE computer didnt do anything when i clicked on the foobar executable. dry.gif

Foobar2000 install file contains 2 versions of foobar2000.exe, one for Win9x the second for WinXP (with full unicode suport). You can't run WinXP version on a computer runing Win98. Try to install Foobar2000 on a computer with Win98 and use that folder for burning. I think that Win9x version will run on WinXP.

Actually it just uses a different version of utf8api.dll for Win9x and Win2k.
