This is a Japanese version (with GUI) of the GOGO encoder, which is able to add Lame tags to the encoded files
http://www.terra.dti.ne.jp/~pen/marinecat/wing313a.exe

Included with the package was command line version, which I would like to use for testing, but unfortunally I do not understand all the options. Some of them are the same as in the English version found at RareWares, others are not.

A shot of the options screen is linked in this thread
http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....showtopic=27454

Could any Japanese board member please be so kind to give me a quick translation?
Sebastian Mares
I don't know Japanese at all, but here is what I think:

-b: Bitrate in kbps
-br: Bitrate in bps
-silent: Doesn't print anything to screen
-e: No idea, maybe emphasis?
-off: Disable optimizations (MMX, SSE, 3DNow!)
-nopsy: Disable psychoacoustic model
-m: Channel mode (stereo / mono / joint stereo / dual channel / force)
-s: Sampling rate maybe?
-d: Sampling rate maybe?
-c: Probably adds Copyright flag
-o: Probably adds Original flag
-q: Quality maybe?
-dm: No idea
-crc: Adds frame CRC
-hq: High quality

Thanks Sebastian,

I guessed most of the options to be the same, but was not aware of -o and -c adding flags, since I do not care about those.

I was told that the -dm switch means downmix to mono, -s and -d sampling rate of input and output file, but it is not clear to me why one would have to specify a sampling rate for a WAV, which should have a header describing the content.

Apparently, the encoder offers no ABR or VBR options, which I hoped to be revealed. sad.gif

Ed:

The -v option is also avaiable, but not listed. Corresponding to the English release, this would be VBR with quality levels 0 (best) to 9 (worst).

Sebastian, you guessed with amazing accuracy considering that you don't know Japanese smile.gif . Below are some corrections and additions.

-e = enable error protection (default: disabled)
-nopsy = disable psychoacoustic model (default: enabled)
-s kHz = force input (wav) sampling rate
-d kHz = force output (mp3) sampling rate
-c = copyright flag (ignored)
-o = original flag (ignored)
-q = quality setting (ignored)
-dm = downmix to mono
-crc = enable crc check (ignored)
-hq = high quality (ignored)

Hi! Can anyone suggest me a command line for GoGo encoder to get a (near) similar quality as with Lame 3.90.3 --alt-preset standard ??? Thanx!

Why don't you just use Lame if that is what you're after?

just go for the "best" settings Gogo has to offer
-v 0 -q 0 -m j

for me, this averages to about 170 kbps for 10 encoded albums (bruckner - symphonies)

oops: I forgot to mention that these settings are for the 3.13 CLI-version found on RareWares (thanks for the hint, Kwanbis).
kwanbis
sorry, but you mean a CLI gogo encoder with a front end? or all together?

If you want to emulate APS, I would definitely add "-vb 128 320" to the above. In order to be more competitive, you could jack it up to "-vb 160 320" also wink.gif
