Full Version: Remastered Kraftwerk albums?!?

I was browsing around on Amazon.com and I noticed they had four new Kraftwerk albums; Autobahn, Radio-Activity, Trans-Europe Express, and Man Machine listed with "[ORIGINAL RECORDING REMASTERED]" in the title! It says the release date is not available but does say that the label is Astralwerks / Emd. If this is true then I'm going to mess myself, not quite literally.

From Kraftwerk.technopop.com.br:

"Kraftwerk Catalogue will be available on September...
In a recent interview to italian newspaper La Stampa, Ralf
Hütter confirmed release of Kraftwerk remastered albuns
(The Catalogue) on September, 2004.

They will be available in separated pieces and as a box, with
the original artwork when they were first published.

The 8 albuns (Autobahn, Radioactivity, Trans Europe Express,
The Man Machine, Computer World, Electric Cafe, The Mix and
Tour de France Soundtracks ) will be published in CD and
vinyl, and later in Super Audio CD, in both English and
German versions.

There will not be unreleased material, only the official
material with some known bonus tracks. The only modification
will occurs with the album Electric Cafe, renamed as
TECHNOPOP, with the original graphics and design from
original project.

The first three records (Kraftwerk, Kraftwerk 2 and
Ralf & Florian) will be released too, after the Catalogue,
but as a separated package. The first three records weren't
released officialy on CD format until today, and only
available in bootlegs with material copied from the vinyl
versions were available.

The concerts of Kraftwerk Tour 2004 are being registered to
production of a DVD, to be released in the beginning of next
year."

This is great news! I already have bootlegs of 2 and Ralf & Florian but if they are remastering those too I might be interested... I would definately like to get my hands on a copy of Kraftwerk as that is the reason I was searching them on Amazon. I don't think I'll be spending the money on a box set though. Most likely I'll just buy up the new versions of the albums I don't have and worry about the rest later on.

Is that just a fansite? The Astralwerks page shows nothing, just basically an ad for Tour de France Soundtracks. At Kraftwerk.com under Info they have "The Catalogue" which just shows the 8 albums and their cover art. It says "Kling Klang Studio Digital Master 2004" under that so I guess in this site's usual vague as hell way they are introducing the information you had. What I don't understand is why would they remaster Tour de France Soundtracks? It's only a year old...how much could have changed since then. Anyway, thanks for the information I'll be looking forward to this. smile.gif

[Edit]Nevermind I see it's a Brazilian fansite. The North American tour was brief and skipped my area completely so I might have to get that juicy concert DVD next year.
