Which do you think will sound better:
1) Creative DDTS-100 and a Z640 PC surround speakers.
or
2) A Home Theater in a Box like the Panasonic HT05 or Sony DDW660

I basically want to be able to route both my PC and my standalone DVD player to surround speakers. I was thinking of just getting the DDTS-100 decoder, but wonder if I shouldn't just shell out a bit more for the HTIB if the sound is better. I want surround more for movies than PC games.

Can any of you guys comment on what kind of audio quality I can expect? I know the Z640 isn't the best speaker set...

Do ya self a favor and get this speakers for ~320$ !!!

In combination with a good soundcard (~100$) and a proper receiver (200-300$) you will have much more fun...

Yeah, I know its much more expensive, but its worth it imo !!!

Creative Inspire 7.1 t7700 these are quite good despite they lack of bass ,but formidable for movies games etc. Sound cards --> Extigy or Audigy 2


Why would you need a reciever ?

Yeah, the micra system is powered...

Still what would be the use of the reciever ?

- Receiving signals from different sources (PC & DVD-standalone)

- Decoding, mixing etc. (if needed...) and amplifying the signal

- Feeding the chosen signal to your speakers then

Don't agree with the idea.

Would spend some more money and buy something more professional (standard 5.1 surround) Real Dolby Digital and not Virtual sound. Consider multimedia speakers for pc gaming purposes only.

I believe that these kind of multimedia speakers would never be capable of decoding DTS and DOlby appropriatly, nor I believe in the power they can produce. I believe in real amplified decoders, which do really do support DTS & Dolby although the price between the two is incomparible.

But yes, as I said before...

I would prefer a "soundcard + receiver + passive speakers" setup !!!
