Full Version: How difficult is to make a plugin?

I have a powerpack dvr-880 digital recorder, and it saves in its proprietary format (.S2400). The recorder comes with a software you can use to convert these ones into waves (a dll is used to transform the s2400).

Since this format is not of the interest of anyone I think, I want to know if it involves a lot of work to make a foobar plugin to read the files in the original format (1h of s2400 recording format is only 16mb). If so, I can try to ask a friend of mine to do this for me. But if it is too difficult to make it, I dont think he'll have time to do this.... (he's not expert neither begginer at programming).

If anyone in this forum would be interested in the dll, just ask me.

If you have a decent decoder library, creating an input plugin is a breeze. If you don't have one and don't even know the specification of the format in question, well... good luck then. Everything else is somewhere inbetween.
