I don't usually find very many people working on setting up old retro audio components... esp on the Hydrogen forums... but I thought I'd cross my fingers and at least try asking a couple questions anyway. Maybe someone might be able to point me somewhere else for help.

I just picked up this old TDK notebook sound card on EBay, and am having a problem recording. Using an old copy of SoundForge to record, with the master and line-in volume levels on the Windows 98 based sound driver maxed out, I'm only seeing -35db to -20db recording levels.

However the problem is that when I use the headphone output to boost the signal into the card, the recording level starts flattening out at -7db and starts to clip. There seems to be no getting the recording level pumped up to 0db.

I know this card is a dinosaur, and Windows98 not exactly the OS of choice for audio work ermm.gif ...but on my little Toshiba Libretto 70CT mini notebook, it adds a nice featuer to the multipurpose aspect of the system... GPS/mapping, MP3 player, Inet email/browsing etc. in a package that almost fits in my pocket.

So any thoughts or pointers to support groups working on such relics would be greatly appreciated... if possible at all. biggrin.gif

Thanks,

Shel
