OK, I got my dbexplorer organizing the way I want it to perfectly.
However the artist sometimes shows up more than once. I just want there to be 1 artist for all of the artist's song. What do I need to do?

Picture included.

Trailing spaces in the artist field maybe?
SoulEata
nope because in my primary audio player MMJB, they all appear under 1 artist name
hotrod_chevyz
id tagging maybe?
SoulEata
well what would the difference be? Why would all of 2pacs songs show up under '2pac' in MMJB, and some of his songs show up under multiple instances of '2pac' in fb2k?
Canar
Try the Album List panel.

Two possibilities: trailing spaces, or dbexplorer bugs.

I've personally never run into problems with the dbexplorer, and I have quite the database of music.

i just figured it was a simple labeling problem.ive had id tags destroy a perfect looking mp3 list.for instance,if you rename a mp3 file, and your playlist browser (such as winamp and many others)lists the id tag and not the actual file name,it will still list whatever the id tags tells it to.i think some can even list it by the encoding programs, ect.i just got foobar today, and im checking it out.it seems to work great, just bland looking.i use to sit for hours skinning my winamp, back in the 2x days.where are skinning tools for foobar?

Maybe because Musicmatch Jukebox truncates those spaces? I'd check myself, but the 20 MB download was too much hassle just for confirmation. Just click on those 2pac entries and see if your selection rectangle gets progressively longer, or do the obvious and just check those files' artist fields. If that doesn't help, post your tree hierarchy formatting (Prefs > Components > Database explorer panel).

I guess a way to test the trailing spaces theory, would be to replace %artist% with $trim(%artist%)

Don't get your hopes up too high though, IMHO foo_looks is more like a skinnable remote control than skinning for foobar. The latter isn't possible, at least not with any current UI.

I don't use any third party desktop mods, skins, themes or whatever you call it for Windows XP, but combined with the formatting possiblilities in foobar2000, such mods can give foobar2000 a personal touch. E.g. iPodish like in this screenshot from the formatting strings site.

(and don't forget to mention case sensitivity)

Thanks so much everyone! We figured it out!

CODE
By Artist3|$if(%various%,'- - - VARIOUS ARTISTS - - -',$if2(%album artist%,$if2($trim(%artist%),'- - - Files with missing tags - - -')))|$if2(%title%,%_filename%)

I'm so happy.

It and the album list panel have both been case-insensitive for me as long as I've used 'em. Nice try though. happy.gif
