I just saw in a recent Best Buy ad that the new JVC DVD player supports MP4 files as well as MP3 and WMA. Does anyone have one of these and know if it will support Apple M4A files? Or do they have to be renamed to MP4 before being burned to a CD to be played?
.m4a = .mp4!
do you know what chip it uses?
So it supports .mp4 container. I wonder which audio compressions it can handle.

Yeeeees. But that's not what he asked!
He wants to know if it'll recognize both extensions, or if he'll have to rename his M4As to MP4. Surprisingly enough, some players are
that anal.

Thanks Roberto for clarifying my question.
While it does not seem as if anyone has an answer yet, this is still definitely good news for AAC users!

From what i read i got the impression that by mp4 support, they are referring to it as a container for DIVX movies. Maybe im ignorant on the matter but does this include support for audio formats?

Good point. If it doesn't support AAC audio, it's very unlikely it'll support the MP4 container.
