Where can i find a codec that will allow me to play M4A with windows media player for free? I would love to have the tags show up too but if thats not possible than i can settle for just having it play the files
krmathis
I think CoreAAC directshow filter is what you need. That is if the m4a file holds aac encoded audio.

I'm not sure CoreAAC alone will work. Doesn't he need an MP4 splitter as well?
sergelac
yes, you need a MP4 splitter as well
3ivx
to use with CoreAAC, go to 3ivx Config, Media Splitter, Check "Allow Unsupported Decoders"

3ivx isn't free though...

only the aac/mp4 audio encoder/decoder part is not free
the splitter, muxer, video encoder/decoder is free

you can still use 3ivx after the 30 days (with CoreAAC)
kode54
I believe their splitter is configured to not connect to third party decoders by default.
Garf
Solution for that (mark the right checkbox in config) was alread posted.
