TURBO
Hi to all. I would like to share this experience and fix with all ipod users. Few weeks ago, I was getting some misbehaviors with my Ipod (3G). While playing a song, it freezes. Sometimes just turn off by itself. So I upgraded to the newest ipod firmware (2.2). The problem persisted. Until, I decided to restore (Re-format) my Ipod.

I grabbed the music folder first (iTunes Music) and copied it to another location. Next, I deleted all my library songs (from inside ITunes Prog), making sure all songs are deleted from the iTunes Music folder. After all this, I proceed to restore my Ipod. Re-loaded the new firmware. A good thing to do is to reboot your ipod before you disconnect from your PC. I reloaded all the songs from the copied folder, and now I don’t have any freezes. It works like a charm. The Ipod has even a faster response. Apparently, Ipods don’t like upgrades, only restores (Wipe out everything). So I recommend people with Ipod problems, to restore (No upgrades) their Ipods and reload their libraries. Thanks for your time. blink.gif

Weird. I don’t get any single error or freeze, since I re-formatted and started using playlists instead of playing the files directly from the Ipod. When I play the files directly, using browse and play, is when I get the freezes. Could Ipod users confirm this hypothesis?. Thanks. blink.gif

I can't see how using playlists vs. using the browse menu would make any difference in behavior. If the ipod is freezing, you have some kind of other issue. Either it's not liking the files or the hard drive is started to become corrupt or something.
