Full Version: Some really wacky audio tools

Found these programs while browsing around:

Enrhythmizer

"The program applies rhythm patterns over source sound, so it acts like an amplitude or phase modulator. It also provides a built-in noise and sine generater for test purposes. "

Sound 2D Warper

"The program warps images, which are known to be closely related to sounds, so wave files could be loaded and converted to images, then warped and saved as sounds. "

The wackiest of all:

Bitmaps & Waves

"This simple program converts bitmap images to sounds, and vice versa. Every line of loaded image is assumed to be a spectrum of sound, and it is converted to sound signal by means of inverse Fourier transform, or ...

Additional features, like image filtering and picture morphing, having sound morphing in mind, are available. "

Enjoy!

You mean something like a Vocoder?
kwanbis
don't know what it is vocoder. what i need is sofware that would take a recorded wav/ogg speach, and distort the voices so they are unrecognizable but perfectly undersantable. somthing to protect inocents :-)

PS: is this what you refer to?

Yes. smile.gif

I personally use this one:

Unfortunately, it's commercial.

If you want a vocoder you should look for Orange Vocoder by Prosoniq ( http://www.digidesign.com/products/prd_ove...product_id=1054 ), it's one of the best around. What do you mean by distortion? Just to make the voice unrecognizable? There are virtually millions of options. The result of a vocoder will most likely be robotic. If you want overdriven sound, you should look for a distortion plug-in. Waldorf D-pole is one of my favourites.

Thanks to both. I think you have the reight idea of what i need, but anyway. I have some recordings of customers/reps conversations. For privacy concerns, the customers voices should be rendered unrecognizable, but fully understandable. So a plug-in, or stand alone program would do. Any other ideas then? GPL? Free?

Sorry, bu i had allready asked in:
http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/showth...27803#post27803

and i got a responce about shift the pitch. so, why cant i do this?

I wonder how it would sound if you took a wave-file, converted it to a bitmap, then compressed it with JPEG, back to bitmap and then to wave-form again...

how does amplification look?
how does mp3/vorbis/aac compression look?

lots of fun stuff to play around with smile.gif

I checked out http://www.nuel.ca/Vocoder
I'm looking for some software that can take change the pitch of a woman's voice to sound like a man, or vise-versa.

I have sound forge, is there a plugin anyone is aware of that can do this? Any info is appreciated.

Edit: BTW, there's a stupid javascript in that page. Ignore it, please.

Which JPEG encoder handles high frequencies the best ???
mp3chan
Unfortunately, the higher the block size decreasing horizontal resolution. It should do some overlapping, in order to increase horizontal resolution in high FFT size.
