Full Version: Setting up an EQ

hi there. I have never had the need for an eq before,, but as my main system is being stripped down, i have resorted to linking my laptop up top my hi-fi to play music off my server.

The sound from the speaker out is REALLY poor, loads of bass, distorted and muffled.
I messed with foobars eq and using the following EQ, i get something reasonable, but not perfect.

Are there any guidelines, listening samples etc. i can use to tune the EQ any better? The adjustments i have made, seem very extreme, so i presume the hardware has been tweaked to produce better output from the laptop speakers.

I have windows set up for best dampling rate conversion, and for desktop speakers. The line out is actually driving my yamaha amp.

Any advice would be great,

Cheers,

Kristian

hhhm, i couldn't come up with anything when i tried a search, i tried searching for a heading like that.

Anyways, sadly the link to the download package doesn't work, so i can't use that, nevermind, perhaps someone has a copy, if they do i could re-host it for a while on my home server (only 256K upload though)

Cheers,

Kristian
