Thanks a lot but i'm sorry the output wav is still blank...

i'm going to tell you step by step what happened : i read your link so i did the way it told to do.

in the record control panel, i selected both Aux then Line in box, unchecked the Mic both in record and playback panels and proceeded as written before to record the doom 3 menu screen music between others...
then i went back and stopped recording.
then i opened the 000 .wav with WMP9 and it plays the duration of the record but still without sound...

a small detail, there's a bar just under the file path. just before hitting stop to finish, there was still nothing in this bar...

last thing i got to let you see. the soundcard is a default card provided with the Asus A7N266-C motherboard and the input used for playing back in speakers is Front Speaker ...

This method does not work for recording the output from applications on your system. You'll need to enable "What U Hear" or "Wave Output" or similar.

Slightly off-topic, there is no point to doing that if you want the music from Doom 3. The PK4 files, like all of the PK3 files used by Quake 3 engine games, are just ZIP files. You can extract the relevant WAV and/or Ogg Vorbis files from the game data files. The file in question is sound/musical/d3theme.ogg in pak003.pk4.

oops didn't realised that way was much simpler...

so you mean that there's no way to record applications sound.
shame, i had good hope to have fun mixing sounds of several ones...

How can HA forums users not know this???

Volume Control > Properties > [new window opens] > adjust volume for RECORDING (thus making volume control into recording control) > Make sure the stereo mixer input is one of the ones checked in the new window and click OK > go back to Recording control > select "Stereo Mixer"

Foobar will now record anything from your stereo mixer, thus ANY sound that Windows or any of its applications plays. To get mic output back, just go back to recording control and select microphone output. Also, as a word of advice, put stereo mixer volume at halfway point to avoid heavy clipping when recording.

You're Welcome. biggrin.gif

Not all sound cards support recording their own output.
