I'm looking for a small audio player, that is preferably only a standalone exe or something that doesn't require to be 'installed'.

I really love fb2k for playing audio on my home pc, but i need this for the following reaon: At school in computer we can bring some music (and headphones) to listen to while we work. I'd like to bring a cd with some of my OGGs, but the only audio player on the school PCs is windows media, and it doesn't read vorbis sad.gif. School doesn't want us to install anything on their 'puters, so I'm looking for a tiny audio player that I can put on that cd to read my vorbis files.

Thanks!

oh, and btw, i'm not sure if this is the right section to post this in, please move if necessary.

You don't necessary need to install foobar2000: just copy the installed folder from your personal computer to a CD-R, and then launch it at school directly by clicking on foobar2000.exe

You could also take a look to 1by1, VUplayer, maybe MediaPlayerClassic, etc...

Thanks, I didn't know foobar could be used without installing it! I'll definitely use that.

If you're school is using a different version of windows than you are, you may need to modify some things for it to run.

Other lightweight alternatives are XMPlay and CoolPlayer. Both play MP3 and OGG files, and XMPlay is reportedly very good at playing back module/tracker formats too.

(Offtopic aside: A dedicated forum section for all non-FB2K playback/managment software would be cool!)

One used to be able to run winamp off a CDR. I haven't tried it on any recent versions.

Thanks guys. I'll use foobar, good thing I have a spare pc running win98.
