Today I was encoding one large wav (a complete album) to various low bitrate formats, including mp3pro (through CEP2).
With the mp3pro vbr (at around 64 kbps), there occured a big seeking problem in winamp 2.80: the first of the 20 songs covered almost the whole seek slider, the other songs were crammed to the end or couldn't be seeked at all.
This problem does not occur with a 64kbps mp3pro cbr, or with the mp3pro plugin (latest v1.1) disabled. I can't check if the new plugin is the problem, just deleted the old v1.0...
Anyone who notes/noted this too?

I believe the version available at Winamp.com is 1.0 still:

If it isn't, PM me your mail address, and I will send you 1.0

Roberto.

Thanks for the offer Roberto.
The link at winamp.com was dead, but I found a v1.0 plugin elsewhere: it doesn't help though.
Just tried what comes out of Nero 5.5.9.0, mp3pro vbr "medium quality".
With this one seeking is better, all songs are accessible, but still the slider is not linear, and total playing time displayed is 108 minutes (should be 79 minutes).
I couldn't hear much improvement with vbr over cbr at comparable bitrates anyway.

i believe mp3pro can have same problems with VBR and seeking as ordinary MP3 has (maybe worse? but why?) - so VBR and CUE (i believe that's what You were trying) is quite unusable
