Full Version: cdparanoia markings at the end of tracks?

Hi, I have a problem using cdparanoia, which I didn't mind until recently (now I want to get at least slightly more 'pristine' rips of my CDs): Paranoia rips pretty well on many drives, but I often get a '*' or '!' in the end of every single track on CD. This is making me really paranoid sad.gif Does this mean that a problem occurs between tracks and I get a non-exact rip?

Also, the manpage says, I can specify the ever-present drive offset thingy with '-O'. Should this be the same value, specified in http://www.offsetbase.eac-audio.de ?

I would also be grateful for any other tips on cdparanoia usage and tweaking. Thank you.

dunno

feel free to use cdda2wav / cdrtools > 2.0 or any other program that uses libcdparanoia for a different frontend...

If you install EAC and watch as the error correction is applied you'll notice alot of times that it happens during the gap/silence in-between two tracks, well actually I notice that's were the greater majority of error correction is applied, even on newly created CD's that look flawless to the naked eye.

The trigger of error correction between tracks where there is a gap/silence has been stated before on here at HA, you'll have to use the search function for it -- the answer may be buried somewhere in some older topics.
