I really want to get a Powerbook, but I really hate the thought of losing foobar. Does anyone know if there's a quality Windows emulator that one can use to run foobar on a Mac?
Thanks!

I second that.
Of course it would be better to have a native version...

AFAIK, VirtualPC should run anything x86 compatable that doesn't require DX9 3D acceleration. I don't know if the audio works well enough for this sort of thing though.
I know its possible to run Foobar2000 in WINE on a GNU/Linux OS. Maybe the same is possible using Darwine on Mac OS X?

Linux is supported on the powerpc platform so simple install that.

ass-backwardsadj. the idea of installing Linux on a Mac just to be able to run foobar2000 in WINE
That's not going to work anyway because fb2k is x86 while Macs are ppc based. WINE is just an API emulation layer, it's not going to magically allow you to execute x86 code on a ppc.
Personally I'd suggest you to verify Roberto's claims about VirtualPC yourself instead of just believing in what he said in that thread. The reduced emulation accuracy argument doesn't look to me like it can hold a lot of water.

Actually darwine is working on that, they're trying to make use of QEMU to be able to run x86 win32 binaries on a Mac, but according to their site it's far from ready.

"known". however, that's not what kalzone was talking about. what he suggested is definitely not going to work.
(and - as you're well aware - what you proposed is not going to work anytime soon either.)
