i've serached the forums and i'm still a bit confused.

first of all, which version of LAME should i get, and where from? i'm looking for quality of the music and stability of the program. i'm also converting heavy metal if that makes a difference.

second, how do i install it with foobar?

third, how do i change the settings, and what should i put for 192kb VBR and 320kb VBR?

thanks in advance.

So a newbie is helping a newbie. dry.gif
(I'm not new to this forum but I've been surfing this place many times.)
Perhaps reading the FAQ would help.

Take a look at that: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....showtopic=28124
I'd recommend using lame3.96.1 (you can easily download it at rarewares.org)

192kb vbr: Either --preset 192 or --preset standard
With heavy metal music you're probably getting much higher than appreciated.
I'd take --preset standard and lame3.96.1

320kb-> AFAIK there is only a CBR mode: --preset insane
If you want to have Lame inside Foobar you just need the "special"version.
You can download it at foobar2000.org
IIRC you don't need no further plugins.

/edit: I'm very sorry for my bad english, still trying to learn it as best as I could

Hey darky, you can be proud of your reply... I couldn't said it better!

So matth6546, you have to check out F.A.Q. & List of recommended LAME settings & also Rarewares - MP3... wink.gif
