Hello,
I've got some questions as a newbie to the ogg format.
So, I like to use ogg format, because:
1. My Iriver IMP-550 finally supports OGG (with Firmware >1.50)
2. I found a really good DJing software that supports it too (DJDecks which just costs 25 Bucks!!!)
So, I've copied the aoTuv Beta3 files to my Foobar Folder and converted a CD (Radiohead - KidA) inside with Foobar Quality settings 2 4 5 and 6.
then I tested it on my Iriver.
But for me I can't really tell much of a difference between 4 and 6. (All sounded very good to me)
and 2 unfortunately doesn't work.
I think because of this.

Iriver Firmware Release Notes
The Ogg Vorbis format provides a greater sound quality than the MP3 files. This version is capable of playing the Ogg Vorbis format files with a bit rate 96 ~ 256Kbps(average).
The OGG files are extracted by the specified bit rate at the time of encoding. However the OGG format is VBR bit rate file that has different bit rates within the track.
The bit rate that is specified on the iMP is the average bit rate of the song. Therefore it is possible that a specific part of the song excess the supported bit rate that iMP supports. In that case, the track might skip until the bit rate is reduced to the supported range.
The Bitrate of 2 is simply too low
But I said I had some questions,
So, Should I generally stick to Ogg? (as my Players support OGG,MP3 and WMA)
And wich quality should I use? (listening to anything from 60's Rock to Acid Jazz, generally all that's a bit psychedelic. So Stereo should be good)
and is the encoding I do right ( I mean with Foobar), or is there a better way?
also if I convert FLAC MPC ... to Ogg is it fine if i just select it in Foobar to convert?
Hope this is the right Thread for these kinds of questions, if not just ignore my post
