Is it possible to play MLP-files via foobar? Maybe it is worth to be added in the next release?

No chance. The format is encrypted, and there's no chance on earth they'll allow access to the unencrypted bitstream (which foobar would need access to for dsp effects etc).

Does anything play them bar that Creative software?

Who are "they"?

If something "encrypted" it could be effectively "decrypted".. DVD was "encrypted" too, but now its not a problem to view it on any computer. smile.gif I wonder, when something will be available for DVD-A?

Which would be illegal under the reign of the DMCA, if i remember right.

Yes, we know already that it doesn't make sense in terms of consumer-rights.

Edit: Solution: Don't buy copy-protected media, don't buy DVD-A's.

This is done in one of two ways: by paying someone for software with an approved license to play back the encrypted files or by using something else to decrypt it, which, as Lyx says, is illegal in the United States. I'm not sure about how the law is in other countries.

It'll be available when one of the two things I just described happens for DVD-A.

The Only way this could be done, if you can provide some sort of freely available MLP decoding library. Once such library would be made available, you can expect plugin development.

Otherwise, it simply wont happen since nobody will bother investing money in DVD-A....

And if this free MLP library will be provided (but illegal) would it be used in f2k? smile.gif

Best answer in this thread (and worth repeating):
Solution: Don't buy copy-protected media, don't buy DVD-A's.

Well, lets first see if this free library will ever be provided. Since MLP has very little demand, i wouldn't hold my breath...
