I just tried out EAC, (using liekloo's EAC guide), and the latest Lame 3.90.3 compile. Each attempt at making an mp3 generated this error:
(And, of course, no mp3 was created.)

Unfortunately, I don't know how to decipher this to be able to tell whats wrong.
Can someone tell me whats wrong here?

I don't know if this will be of any help, but here's the log that EAC generated:

Melody.log

It, of course, shows nothing of the Lame process.

Thanks all; Artie

As I examine this closer, it appears to be related to this EAC setup screen:

The thing is, once I've selected the --alt -preset standard setting, I would think the "Bit Rate:" and "quality" settings would "grey-out".

Not sure if I'm on the right track here, or not.

use 'user defined encoder' instead of 'LAME'.
btw, then only the commandline is taken into account.

Thanks Digga. That did it. I should probably PM liekloo about this, in case he wants to update the noobie guide. wink.gif

Cool . . . but still, it took me awhile searching the site to find that. (Obviously, assuming one didn't see this thread.)

It might be beneficial for him to add that screenshot to the These tabs are worth your attention . . . section. wink.gif

Thanks again.

I think it is better structured the way it is now regarding that matter, as this option doesn't belong to EAC's main options, but to compression. the guide more or less follows EAC's own structure.
but this is obviously a matter of personal preference wink.gif

Yeah, thats probably a good point. Besides, when noob's like me stumble over this stuff, we always have places like this to straighten us out. tongue.gif

(Edit for spelling.)

I remember having this problem too...however, it seems to work for me now...I chose "LAME Mp3 Encoder" and for the command-line options I use: --preset standard ...that's all and it works smile.gif
