Full Version: RIAA sues major U.S. ISPs for censoring a website

RIAA sued today major US ISPs ( AT&T Broadband, Cable & Wireless USA, Sprint Corp., Advanced Network Services and UUNET Technologies) in a move to block a website that provides access to copyrighted material (music, more exactly). The surprise is they're asking banning the website, altough those ISPs haven't anything to do with the hosting of the mentioned site. So, what's next, to sue CD-Rs factories because they provide a medium for copying copyrighted material, or better, why not ban tapes also! I think if the RIAA's intention is successful even this website is in danger.

Lots of Doom and Gloom....but read the riposte HERE

As the author suggests there is a huge non-American user base out there who don't give a fig for the RIAA or US/European copyright restrictions.

Whoa - you guys are laughing in the face of fate. Check the news for the Euro DCMA which is nearing completion as but one example of corporate power in first-world countries. Not pretty. Lots of speculation.

Just because it happens in the US first doesn't mean everyone else is immune (unfortunately).

Wait a year or two and Then laugh. Remember, the biggies are Japanese, European, and American. Guess what? Nex
