Wow! I'm really outdated! Is there a FB2K for Windows XP x64? Or these drivers are meant for foobar2000 32-bits running on Windows XP x64?
unfortunateson
Since FB2K 0.9 has been officially released, how soon can we expect an ASIO plugin for it?
Dandruff
just got an email from the otachan (the developer of the asio output plugin):
QUOTE(Otachan)
I saw 0.9 SDK. There is no mechanism that adds the output plug-in in foobar2000 0.9. It is impossible to make the ASIO output plug-in for foobar2000 0.9.
tacitus10
That sucks if ASIO cannot work under 0.9. My soundcard only supports ASIO. I don't understand why output plugins are removed from 0.9.

Is Foobar losing its Swiss Army Knife like features in favour of Windows Media Player rigidity?

There's another thread about ASIO. There Will Be No ASIO For 0.9? at the General - (fb2k) forums.

Why it isn't included?

QUOTE(Peter @ Mar 20 2006, 05:51 PM)
In my opinion, current "output API" as used by the Kernel Streaming output is not ready for SDK inclusion and should not be used because of various design issues (flooding device list, no proper output switcher GUI) and will likely change with upcoming 0.9.X releases.
Besides, I might write a new ASIO output myself if I find enough free time and a test setup.

Here's what Otachan has to say about it:

About foobar2000 Ver. 0.9: I've talked to its developer, and it will be possible to make an output plugin with Ver. 0.9.1. Afterwards, I think foobar2000's developer or myself will provide an ASIO output plugin. (3/20)

Yeah, that's probably what Peter is thinking.

It looks as if Foobar might possibly get ASIO in 0.91 which is a relief. biggrin.gif

Because of this, I'm waiting to switch to .9 on my music server. I really can't do without asio... Gotta wait.

Hi,

I have been using ASIO out with RME DIGI 96 PAD for a while now. Tonight, I tried on my brand new Lynx L22 card but could not get it to work under ASIO mode with FOOBAR 2000. I get the error message :

INFO (CORE) : startup time: 797 ms
INFO (CORE) : opening file for playback :
INFO (CORE) : location: "file://G:\katie melua - call off the search\Track01.wav" (0)
INFO (foo_output_asio(dll)) : open : 44100 Hz, LINEAR PCM, 16 bits, 2 channels
INFO (foo_output_asio(dll)) : ASIO device type [channel 0] : Int32LSB
INFO (foo_output_asio(dll)) : ASIO device type [channel 1] : Int32LSB
ERROR (foo_output_asio(dll)) : unsupported output data format.

I don't know where I have gone wrong. Please help.

I have removed the DIGI96 driver & associated software from the PC & the sound card has also been removed. I reinstalled FOOBAR2000 again in the hope to straighten up the problem but to no avail. The ASIO out mode has Lynx2 selected as output device (not L22 - not sure why).

I am thinking perhaps my Lynx setting is not proper. I have even done a harware upgrade using the upgrade program from the Lynx site.

I am thinking the next thing may be to reinstall Windows XP again. However, that is the last thing to do.

Thanks.

Regards,
Joe Ling

I changed the playback to 32 Bits instead of 16 Bits fixed and it works for me wink.gif
Otherwise i have EXACTLY same bug with Creative X-Fi latest official Driver.
Dandruff
it's not a bug!
drake
any updates as to if this works with 0.9.2?
kjoonlee
Eh? ASIO for 0.9.2 is already out. How many ASIO threads are there? ;p

in that case could you tell me how the hell to get it to work? i go into preferences->playback->output->ASIO virtual devices and set up my driver (E-MU ASIO), but nothing changes. How do I tell the player to go through ASIO and not just wave out?
kjoonlee
That would be off-topic here. And there's no reason to get excited...

I don't know, because I don't use ASIO. Why not search the forums? It's been answered before, IIRC.
