Hmm, I had to use 24 bit padded to 32 before, but normal 32 bit works now, maybe Otachan changed something at some point

http://www.cowonamerica.com/forums/archive....php?t-783.htmlThat stuff is only (if that, which I doubt) relevant for the Audigy2. For an ASIO driver that
demands a 32-bit stream that crazy talk obviously don't apply.

Hi
Can anyone please explain to me how to install otachan's foo output asio plugins? I have downloaded both the exe and dll versions and they end with the extension ".7z" - when I rename this to the obvious extension like ".dll" or ".exe" windows XP returns the "this is not a windows image" and the file doesn't work. This is true of all of the asio files I have downloaded from his site.
I don't speak one word of Japanese and all of this would probably be more obvious if I could understand some Japanese or if someone kindly mirrored this site in english.
I also use winamp and have the same problem with the asio out file for that program - I was luckier here though as I found an older dll file that does work for winamp.
Thanks, Kevin

*.7z are compressed archives ->

.7z is a compressed archive like zip.
Get the latest winrar or 7zip to extract the files from it.

true, that.. but for some reason i seem to think columns_ui shouldn't have a .9 version either

i suppose it's just more liked than asio support ;(

the only reason i haven't tried .9 is beacuse of the lack of kernel streaming or asio support

not sure if this is also an rme issue. I notice that emulated drivers are used because RME doesn't seem to provide the correct ones. same as with QuickTime 7 issues.
I noticed that my Echo Indigo io is working better using Foobar 2000 than my RME Hammerfall.
anyone has more ideas?
Dandruff
Sep 16 2005, 02:10
yeah - with the hammerfall you have to use use waveout (mme) or the asio plugin ... works fine in foobar 0.8
the last 0.9 beta i tried only had directsound (wdm) build in. so hammerfall users should wait for the final 0.9 version which has hopefully mme build in again. if not, then we have to wait for the sdk and an asio output plugin.
or maybe rme finally gives us wdm drivers one day :-)

Could anybody tell me what's the use of the "use direct input monitor" checkbox ?
I have a m-audio firewire audiophile, and I can see a difference between the two settings.
Which one is the best ?
Thanks

i just wrote a email to otachan. just let it disabled until then. if it has something to do with ASIO Direct Monitoring, then it normally should activate/route the card's input(s) to the outputs. i've tried it, but nothing happened here. let's see, what he will answer ...

Wasn't columns_ui is to be added to the installer as a default GUI option anyway?
I know that KS is not in 0.9 beta so the devs won't have to deal with the bugs that it may create.

Hi all,
I don't know how to install this output. What is the .dll file to choose (normal ? sse ?...) ? Where should I put it ? What about the others files ? Which playback format to choose ? (I have a 24-bit soundcard)
Thx for your answers

depends on your CPU. "normal" works with all CPUs. "SSE" and "SSE2" only works with CPUs which have these features. you can use
http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php to see, if your CPU has these features.
QUOTE(Nanak @ Nov 30 2005, 10:04 PM)
Where should I put it ?
of course in the \components folder of foobar.

32bit fixed point should work.

I've encountered problems with ASIO output plugin on my Creative Audigy 2 Value soundcard and 5.1 sound system. The plugin failed to create output for all 5.1 channels. Normally (with WaveOut, DirectSound and Kernel Streaming) any stereo signal gets upsampled to 5.1 by Creative's CMSS 3D. ASIO plugin outputs only 2 channels (FL+FR) by default. Changing "Shift Output channels" pruduced output only to certain spreakers (in weird combinations like FR+RL+RR, FL+FR+RL+RR+SW - where SW clearly tried to output regular, not low frequency signal, etc., but not proper 5.1 at once).
hi,
how could i use this plugin with creative audigy2 zs notebook? i tried everything and i have the same error... is it posible to use this plugin with this sound card?
thanks

sorry, but why don't you use directsound or kernel streaming if it works fine for you with 5.1? asio (low latency) isn't really needed for a such a player.

if i recall the specs of the X-Fi, it sort of depends on what settings you'd normally use.. if you normally have the 'crystallizer' on, then yes, you will receive a sound quality boost because it's circumvented.. if not, you shouldn't really.. the src is independently tested to be transparant, and can be disabled altogether if so desired..

Since the v0.9 SDK isn't released yet, then the answer is no. Only a selected little group of developers have acces to the v0.9 SDK before it's official release, and Otachan isn't one of them.

Hi,
I can't play mp3 files with this asio driver, always got following warning:
INFO (foo_output_asio(dll)) : open : 22050 Hz, LINEAR PCM, 32 bits, 2 channels
ERROR (foo_output_asio(dll)) : unsupported sample rate.
But I can play e.g. flac.
Do you know what is wrong?
I use foo output asio SSe2.
thanks

i've never seen a asio-driver, which supports 22kHz input. so you just have to insert a resampler (which upsamles to 44.1kHz or something similar) ...
