I've just changed a few lines of code to update foo_freedb for foobar2000 0.8.x, and finally get it working under Wine.

Source changes seem fine, I'll check out how's your version doing when I'm back home and upload it to 3rd party plugins' site. Nice to see it updated to current SDK, perhaps ( *wink* *wink* ) it'll encourage someone to change it even further an implement features of new freedb protocol (native UTF8 support!)?

Didn't know freedb supports UTF-8. Would be great to have support for it! I What protocol level is currently supported by the plugin?

Support for new freedb protocol (with UTF-8) would have been great.

But that aside: Why does this new compile display only in very small size? The old component was resizeable. This is hard on my old weary eyes.

Great! As I can see, you are not longer developing the plugin? If so, I will try to update it to new protocol when I have some more time (too much programming for studies right now to have time for foobar plugins).

Go ahead There's still a lot of fetures to implement, like:

* UTF-8 support
* separate thread for http connections allowing user to cancel request
* submitting changes to freedb

Needing to redownload the 0.8.x binary compile from 3d party site I only get a damaged archive. I've emptied firefox cache and redownloaded 4 times, same result.

Seems it was firefox cache afterall. I had to restart firefox in addition to clear cache and download manager. Then I got a healthy archive. Sorry, ppl!

Sorry for bringing back a really old topic. I'm still stuck with foobar2000 version 0.8 to do the basic tagging, since this component hasn't been updated to version 0.9. The new foo_freedb2 is fine, but it really doesn't include all the features I'm using, e.g. freedb disc id.

So, long story short, are there any other people missing this functionality, so I could still live in the thin hope of getting this component updated, or am I the only one?

Here is another vote for the foo_freedb update to support foobar 0.9.x! The feature I miss the most is the codepage selection. Yes, I know about foo_masstag_addons, but it's far less convenient than selecting the codepage on download. Plus it requires vs2005 redistributable package.

Is the source code for the plugin available? How complicated will it be to port it to 0.9.x platform?
