I've got an Yamaha X-Wave 6000 (DS-XG Series), quite old but still operational. biggrin.gif If i get an opportunity to buy a second hand Creative Sound Blastel Live!, would it be worth it?
I have Creative Inspire T3000 speakers and wonder if i change the sound card would i hear the difference?

I don't know about the quality of the Yamaha, but I wouldn't touch the Creative with a ten foot pole.

I wouldn't go for it. I still have a couple generic Yamaha GX cards (the ones that were $20 5 years ago), and they sound about as good as a Live! in stereo--couldn't pick them apart (except that one caused a BSOD after playing for awhile on the DVD player, which had a KT133A chipset smile.gif). I assume with the fancy model name, these might be a bit better than non-branded ones. If you're looking at an upgrade, at least look to a Chaintech AV10, M-Audio Revolution, etc.. Actually, even an Audigy2 ZS wouldn't be bad (though there is the crappy resampling to get around).
