# Added support for FAAC (as with LAME, you'll need to download libfaac.dll yourself and place it the main Winamp directory). Note that there are many types of AAC encoders out there, most of them are proprietary and ALL of them require a purchase of a encoding license. FAAC is a free encoder and is currently on the "low-end" of the quality scale. FAAC doesn't implement AAC-HE or AAC-PS (AACPlusV2). You also cannot use FAAC for anything lower than 80kbps. It's really only here for completeness and on the offchance that FAAC starts implementing AAC-HE or (god forbid) the Parameteric Stereo - which I not sure it would legally be able to do. Either way, it's here now in oddcast.
# Fixed oddcast to work with the new Vorbis 1.1 and also the aoTuV builds. I am distributing aoTuVb3 with oddcast which adds a new quality mode (-2) try it out, it's quite good. You'll be able to optionally install either of the stock vorbis 1.1 or the aoTuVb3 dlls when oddcast is installed.

I'm in process of finishing up development of oddcastv3 which (among other things) will have the ability to specify both server name and description. Other things that it will contain are :

- elimination of wxWindows, no more bitmapped windows, and everything should run alot smoother
- multiple encoders
- new and better VU meter
- simplified config settings

this will also mean that the XMMS version will need to be rewritten (yeah, it needed to be done anyway)...it may take a while to get the XMMS version done (as I would need to port all the windows UI code to GTK/GTK2) which is a very non-trivial task.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I've been hard at working writing the next generation oddcast plugin, OddcastV3. It has some very nice new features, and has fixed some problems plaguing OddcastV2 for some time now. It has just gone through some rigorous alpha testing, and is now ready for general beta testing. Please post any problems/issues in this forum.

Note that Oddcast V3 is currently only available as a Foorbar and Winamp plugin. The XMMS version of Oddcast V3 has not yet been started.

Trying it right now.
Far from being perfect, but a vast improvment compared to oddcastv2.
Configuration now actually makes sense.

Hint: Place the soft-clipping-limiter before the Oddcastv3 DSP to reduce clipping in your transcoded stream.

OddcastV3 3.1.0 released. Think this version bump are worth posting about as it adds AAC+ encoding, aoTuV b4 libraries and Ogg Vorbis bitrate management mode.
