I found this

http://www.mexp.dk/index.shtml

which supports mpc and ogg and on first impressions looks quite good. Haven't yet tested it on my main player so I reserve judgement.

Course if anyone has seen anything better please post, I've been looking for quite a while now.

Doesn't really support ogg and mpc.
It doesn't support ogg nor APE tags it just guessed from the directories.
Looks decent though if these problems were adressed.

note: I also think you add add id3v2 tags to oggs and mpcs with this plugin which is very bad indeed.

i just tried this out, and it has pretty poor support for mpcs certainly. pity, because its just the sort of thing winamp needs.

Make a copy of a mpc file.
See if the plugin allows you to write id3v2-tags: in the editor you write something - exits - go back and see if the information was kept.
Also you could probably check with case's TAG.

Hi,

I'm the author of MEXP.
I would just like to announce that MEXP has been updated,
and the tagging-problems should be fixed, and that ogg and ape tags are now supported.

The current version is Beta 3, download it from http://www.mexp.dk

This is pretty nice.

One bug/feature that I noticed immediately, it does not seem to do Ogg Vorbis "year" tag correctly. In the "database" part it adds the "year" Vorbis tag to Title.

Example:

I load up a playlist of Vorbis files,
One of them is titled (under the Title column): Vincent - 2002.
The Year column is blank.
I click on "Vincent - 2002" and hit Alt+3 to bring up the "Edit Tag" window.
The "database" tab is first displayed.
There, in the title it says "Vincent - 2002" and the year is blank.
I move to the "Ogg Vorbis" tab, and all information is in its correct spot (the way I encoded it).

You might also want to add the ability to view "other" ogg tags. Like the WinAMP Vorbis decoder allows you to see any extra comments/tags that are in the file. I personally add a quality and a codec comment so I know what I encoded with, and at what setting.

Though, now that I think of it, the "codec" comment really isn't nessecary because the build date is in the file anyways. But it doesn't say "RC3" or "1.0".

Might it be reading the db though tags exist?

Yah, it is reading the database, but the database is getting the information from the tags.

Hi,

I just wanted to say that a new version of MEXP has been released again, we're now at Beta 6 - more stable than ever, and still beating Winamp 3 tongue.gif

Get it at: http://www.mexp.dk

Have you tried "Dapyx MP3 Explorer "?

It seems to work pretty wll with mpc's (although I haven't managed to amend ape tags with it)
Thomsen
As the author of MEXP, I've tried most of jukeboxing software out there smile.gif

And it can append APE tags on musepacks also : )
